Opinion | Trump Fulfills Promise of ‘Draining the Swamp’… Accidentally

For those of you rational citizens who thought a man with over 19 sexual allegations, a taped recording of him bragging about sexual assault, and just a general sense of creepiness about him couldn’t possibly make it to the highest office in the land, last November surely left you feeling stunned.  Not to mention feeling deeply disappointed, and hell downright shocked, when you came to the ugly realization that it was your fellow countrymen & women, your coworkers, your neighbors, and even your family members who voted the man into office.

So what happened?

We missed something. We failed to take notice of the grumblings and woes of Middle America. A people with a growing distrust of the government, a thirst for change, and sure a little white nationalism sprinkled with ignorance. But Trump heard, and he exploited.  He ran as a man for the people, an outsider. He bellowed he’d get to Capitol Hill and, “Drain the Swamp!”

Cut to January 2017, and “the man for the people” quickly revealed his true, top 1%, self-serving motives: appointing wall street bankers to cabinet positions, slashing red tape for “clean” coal companies, giving his kids whatever jobs they wanted for Christmas, using tax payer money to go golfing…. you get the idea.

A complete nightmare that only SNL could truly capitalize on.

But, oh how the tides are turning!  Case in point: The recent special election in Alabama.  The historically red state elected the unknown, goofy, Democrat, Doug Jones, in the ultimate upset. Why? Because people are starting to realize something.  They’re realizing that we made a ‘UGE mistake in electing an immoral, predatory, hypocrite, and enough is enough. Congressmen are dropping like flies. Every morning there is a new allegation, and in time, all those who deserve it shall fall.

So with that said I would like to take a brief moment to thank Donald Trump, for the first time in my life, for setting an example of who & what NOT to be.

He may not be draining the swamp, but WE certainly are because of him… or perhaps, in spite of him.
